Mot du Président

A Note from the President

“Though no one can go back and make a brand-new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand-new ending.”
 ~ Carl Bard

Happy New Year! On behalf of le Conseil d’Administration de Bordeaux-USA and myself we wish you a 2013 filled with health, prosperity and lots of Franco-American friendship!

As you’ll see below we have some great conferences coming up in the next few months along with our popular first Thursday of the month Potluck Dinners!

Some Highlights from 2012

On October 25th we celebrated the 48th Anniversary of Bordeaux and Los Angeles becoming Sister Cities at our regular Thursday night conference. The next day on the actual anniversary date, October 26th, the two cities marked the occasion by baptizing one of our Bordeaux trams Los Angeles. About 25 of our members and friends joined us to witness this event. If you have a Facebook account and would like to view some pictures from that event, Like us at Bordeaux-USA. If you don’t have an account, copy & paste this link into your browser to view them:

On November 6th we partnered with the Amercian Consulate in Bordeaux, Democrats Abroad, France Etats-Unis and L'institut de journalisme Bordeaux Aquitaine(l’IJBA) for a special Election event called ‘Nuit Américaine’. About 20 of our members and friends joined in the festivities that included 2 debates, dancing with a live band and watching the election results on a live feed from CNN. Then on November 22nd we held our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, which was again a grand success, with over 120 people joining in the celebration! Check out our photos on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.531128593573270.125806.196604527025680&type=3
